Five Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds-Written (or co-written) Songs About Revelatory Sex:

AZ-Yet - “Last Night”

After 7 - “Can’t Stop”

El Debarge - “Can’t Get Enough”

Deborah Cox - “My First Night With You” (co-written by Diane Warren)

Karyn White - “Can I Stay With You?”

an underappreciated (if even recognized) jam that my homie elvin brought to my attention a few years ago. enjoy.

people usually recall “don’t disturb this groove” when they think of the system, and that’s cool because it’s the jam. but so is this song.

i remember listening to this track several times over when i got a copy of ge-ology plays ge-ology. part of it was the good beat, but a lot of it was his use samples from an old recording of “the shadow of your smile”. not sure which recording it is, but the harmonies in the voices have that lushness not unlike other favorites of mine, like sarah vaughn or johnny hartman.

has fred armisen done a philip oakley impersonation on SNL yet? no? i’m not surprised. it will probably never happen.

i’ve had the archandroid for a while already, and yet i still can’t get enough of this song.
